Whirlpool WTW6700TW 28" Cabrio Series Top Loader Washer (Metallic/White)

Product Description
  • Energy Star Qualified
  • Ultra Capacity Plus
  • Direct Inject Wash System: Prior to the start of wash cycles, a highly concentrated dose of detergent is injected into fabrics, working to penetrate stains and pre-treat soil. Only when the entire load has been treated with the concentrated cleaning lather does the wash cycle begin
  • 6th Sense Technology: As soon as the wash cycle is started, the washer uses various sensors to determine the size of the load and precisely how much water is needed to clean it. Heat sensors then monitor the temperature, and make sure water is warmed gradually to make cleaning
  • Care Control Temperature Management: Care Control Temperature Management uses built-in sensors to monitor wash water and ensure it's warm enough to dissolve detergents and cool enough to ensure proper fabric care.
  • Ultra Quiet Wash Plus Noise Reduction: Innovative noise reducing technology brings the beauty of silence to the laundry room.
  • See-through Temp

    So far so good.4
I have had my cabrio for a few weeks now, and I am pleased with it. The features are easy to navigate, and the ammount of cloths that can be washed is fantastic, easilly does a king size comforter without blinking. For the price you pay for this, I got an extended service plan that goes for 4 additional years. If the other reviews are true, then I will be thankful, but I have had many other whirlpool, maytag and amana machines and not had to service any of them, and the only reason i don't have them now is because I left them with houses when I sold them. If I have a problem though, you all will be ther first to know, but as for now, the machine gets the cloths clean, and the dryer gets them dry. I do not see the concerns over the cloths balling up in the middle, there is ample agitation and tilt. The capacity is great!!! I would buy another one anytime.

    Nice machine5
I think some of the negative reviews have to do with some issues with the newer technology. Ours works great. This machine offers a good balance between efficiency and performance. If you are looking to buy a washing machine that just has good performance, the 6600 is probably better. A front-loader is also a good option if you have the space. But if you are concerned with water and energy usage, and need a top-loader for space, the only other model that comes close is the Fisher & Paykel Aquasmart. See[...]for the washer ratings. The 6700 is the #3 rated top-loader. The #2 is a Maytag that is essentially the same machine.

We love this thing and have not seen the problems listed. It gets our clothes cleaner and softer than our previous washers. I think if you are doing loads with 10+ pairs of jeans that you need to consider a front loader. For us, we only have 27" of depth in our utility closet and we wanted high efficiency (particularly with water) so this was the choice for us.

    1. I've had this washer for a year and a half and it's worthless now. The motor control evidently went out (according to the whirlpool repair guy that came to the house) and it'll cost $800 to fix the washer. He said that they've known all along that there are problems with this washer and even if we fixed it, we might have to do so again in another year! DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER!!!!! I always loved whirlpool and have the matching dryer, but now I"m wishing I'd gone with a different model all-together.
